What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

The legal and compliance team is involved in all strategic projects and negotiations in course within the Plata region. Legal and compliance team members actively participate in businesses discussions and act as genuine business partners.

We also highlight the reduction of almost 60% of litigation cases in the past 2 years and the tech revolution that was put in place with several internal initiatives, to use modern technologies in our daily activities.

Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted the company and the team the most?

The regulatory environment specially in Argentina is incredibly challenging and the team must have the capacity of adapting very quickly to new rules and regulations. There are several local initiatives that impact on our routines, but at the same time give us the opportunity to work very closely with our business colleagues to get the best results for our company.

If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?

I would advise getting to know your company and understand its business. It is crucial that legal and compliance team members act as trustful business partners, other than legal advisors. The more a legal counsel knows about a company’s business, the more appropriate legal advice they will be able to give. In addition, select professionals with complementary profiles and have good law firms working with our legal department, trying to establish long-term relationships.
