The legal support for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)’s extensive portfolio of pharmaceutical product is complex, with expert management needed at all stages of the product lifecycle, from initial research and development to rollout and licensing. The staff of the GSK in-house legal team combine their pharmaceutical legal abilities with comprehensive knowledge of the company’s products and a conscientious attitude towards compliance and ethics.
As such, in addition to legal team leader Diego Alvarez García (who also has responsibility for Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia in his role as legal director for Argentina and Southern Cone), GSK also employs the services of dedicated ethics and compliance coordinator for Argentina and the Southern Cone Mayra Frumento, who formerly worked as an external lawyer for GSK. Recently, the considerable powers of the team were deployed to assist the licensing of Bexsero, a remedy to meningococcal infections which can cause meningitis; the drug is now available across Argentina.
