What are the most significant cases and/or transactions that you have recently been involved in?
As EVP and general counsel, I led a team of lawyers on two recent M&A transactions that included the acquisition of, EZ-Flo International, a leading manufacturer of plumbing supplies and specialty plumbing products, and LCL Pty Ltd, one of Australia’s largest producers of high‐quality copper‐based alloys. These transactions have been vital to advancing the company’s strategic objectives to optimise its product portfolio, deepen its distribution network and continue to strengthen its customer service capabilities. My team’s legal and compliance work on these acquisitions and continued efforts to fully integrate them has increased our capabilities across our product, distribution, and manufacturing platforms, including the addition of a product production facility in Ningbo China, which allows us to better serve our customers.
The unusual business environment created by the pandemic has been swiftly followed by other shocks. Are you now putting more emphasis on preparing for the unforeseen and, if so, what does this entail?
From the pandemic and social injustice issues to the geo-political and climate change concerns around the globe, general counsels have navigated uncharted waters for the past few years. These issues create a variety of legal challenges and opportunities for law departments to support their organisations by (i) preparing for continued global regulatory developments in the ESG space, (ii) staying aware of the geo-political landscape as it drives creation of new global policies, sanctions, and laws, and (iii) fostering company diversity equity and inclusion agendas that promote a better workplace for everyone. It is important for legal leaders to remain at the forefront of these issues within their organisations. I participate on the ESG steering committee, lead our global ethics and compliance function and regularly interface with our enterprise risk management leaders to stay involved in the latest issues facing our business. In this way I am better able to anticipate future legal and compliance risks that may impact our global businesses.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about supporting women leaders. At RWC we are actively moving the needle on gender diversity. I have been a part of this effort by not only hiring talented females but serving as a mentor and role model to women leaders within our pipeline. I have lead diversity initiatives and regularly participate on gender diversity and leadership panels to share tips on how women leaders can navigate challenges along their career journey.
