Ashoo Sharma, vice president and general counsel of Harry Norman, REALTORS®, is a force of change, embodying the true spirit of a powerful leader in the real estate industry. Reporting directly to the CEO, Ashoo champions numerous groundbreaking policy shifts, from consumer protection to professional standards, that have set new industry norms.
In a world grappling with both pandemic-related safety challenges and social injustice, Ashoo spearheaded Harry Norman’s response. Partnering with her CEO, Ashoo revamped the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts in the wake of significant social events. Ashoo’s holistic approach covered everything from establishing a ‘People and Culture Council’ to delivering specialized inclusivity training. A tangible uptick in minority employment and partnerships with groups like the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta for racial equity philanthropy further demonstrate the success of her initiatives.
As a lifetime mentor through organizations like the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association and a sought-after speaker on diversity in law, Ashoo is a guiding light for both aspiring and established professionals. Ashoo’s leadership was nationally recognized in 2020 when Governor Kemp appointed her to Georgia’s Commission on Equal Opportunity. Her diligent efforts to modernize Georgia’s stagnant fair housing law culminated in her becoming the Commission’s Vice-Chair in 2021.
Ashoo is more than a legal mind; she is a visionary committed to equality, especially in housing—a steppingstone to generational wealth. Her unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion got her selected to the esteemed Leadership Atlanta Class of 2024, which is respectfully referred to as the “affordable housing” class because of her and other class members impacting equality in housing.
