Appointed as group general counsel in May 2018, David Cullen has been tasked with redeveloping the reputation of AMP Group as it responds to the controversies which have plagued the company over the last year. Cullen has 25 years of experience in corporate governance, corporate law and is responsible for the group’s entire legal and governance functions as it emerges from a challenging year.

Nominated for his diligent work handling the legal affairs of the company whilst it is going through this difficult period, Cullen is noted for his efforts in leading the charge to retain AMP’s leading place within the Australian financial services market. Prior to his appointment, Cullen served AMP as its general counsel, governance and acting company secretary and in particular managed AMP’s merger with AXA APH. He will continue to be an important figure within the in-house legal market within the Australian financial services industry going forward, as AMP strives to move past its troubles looks towards consolidating and growing its future business.
