Julie Ryan is a highly experienced in-house lawyer with extensive experience in the alcoholic beverage industry and the fast moving consumer goods industry in general, having almost 20 years of experience in-house and in private practice roles in leading law firms in Australia. She is an experienced leader with a people focused attitude and an aptitude for high level international management and cross border issues. At Accolade Wines, a major global wine business with headquarters in South Australia, Ryan served as general counsel and company secretary for just over seven years and was responsible for its global legal matters, management of the multi-jurisdictional legal team, IP management, commercial matters and corporate governance as company secretary. Since the research deadline for this year’s Powerlist in July 2018, Ryan has since moved on to pastures new as CEO of the Australian Liquor Stores Association, continuing to dispense commercially-minded advice in the alcoholic beverages industry and providing leadership to the business using all of her gained industry experience and management acumen.
