Firmly established within the market as Australia’s largest fuel network, Caltex supplies one third of Australia’s transport fuel and has gained a reputation for providing a safe and reliable supply of fuels to a range of different market sectors. These sectors include retail, mining, agriculture, aviation, transport, small-to-medium enterprises, marine, automotive and government, and Caltex supplements its fuels business via its position as one of Australia’s largest convenience retailers. Such a wide business remit comes with a number of different legal and corporate challenges, and Caltex is ably served by Lyndall Stoyles in her role of executive general manager of legal and corporate affairs, which she assumed in October 2016. Stoyles manages Caltex’s legal, secretariat, internal audit, compliance and corporate affairs teams – leading the provision of business-savvy and comprehensive advice related to a range of different practice areas.
As the company’s lead lawyer she works closely with Caltex’s board, CEO and broader leadership team, providing legal advice to inform business strategy and risk mitigation initiatives. Stoyles’ is also company secretary to the board, and has her own place on the company’s leadership team in part due to tremendous thought leadership on applicable legal and business topics. Prior to joining Caltex, Stoyles was group general counsel and company secretary for former logistics business Asciano, after spending over a decade in private practice advising on competition, commercial and corporate law issues at Australian firm Clayton Utz.
