What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
The number one challenge has undoubtedly been keeping the energy and momentum going after a challenging few years, with no signs of a slow-down in regulatory change, geo-political uncertainties and the general hurly-burly of life. I am not sure I have nailed it, but what helps me keep going is being surrounded by supportive and like-minded colleagues, keeping up ties with broader industry peers and remembering to laugh.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
The more data we can have at our fingertips, the more credible and knowledgeable we will be with the ‘in my experience…’ statements we make.
What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?
The unique qualities to be successful as an in-house lawyer are the ability to see the big picture and to cut to the chase. A keen sense of perspective combined with a sense of humour also goes a long way.
