Acting as group general counsel and company secretary of QBE Insurance Group Limited, Carolyn Scobie joined Australia’s leading global insurer in January 2016. Scobie assumed her position at QBE after nearly two decades at Goodman Group where she was group general counsel. Her role at Goodman Group entailed responsibility for a multi-disciplinary legal team working on matters across 16 countries and over 800 entities. With extensive experience working in an ASX-listed multinational, Carolyn’s expertise lies in compliance, regulatory matters, litigation and managing the complexity of multiple jurisdictions. Scobie started her in-house career as assistant general counsel at Kumagai Australia Pty, where she stayed for a five year stint. Scobie had previously worked in private practice for Barker Gosling Solicitors in Sydney.
