Can you briefly explain how the legal team is structured, highlighting key individuals and their role within the department? The Amcor legal team in Latin America is a flat organisation...
Amcor is an Australian multinational packaging company that accrued a revenue figure of $9.5bn through its production of plastic packaging goods that are used in several industries. Amcor is a listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange and is supported by a small legal department that is not only knowledgeable in all relevant areas of the law, but the way in which these laws and the regulatory environment applies to Amcor’s business operations. Julie McPherson is company secretary and group general counsel of Amcor and along with the legal team has, in the recent past, enabled the company to more than double its annual profit figure to $752m AUD after working on several acquisitions to boost its portfolio. Amcor chief executive Ron Delia recently told investors the company expects further organic progress in 2018, and in supporting this growth the legal team will have further reason to prove their worth as business advisors in a legal and commercial sense.
