German multinational engineering and electronics company Bosch has had a presence in Australia since 1907. 110 years later, Bosch Australia currently generates revenues of over $750m AUD per annum in Oceania, and employs over 1,400 associates covering a cover a diverse range of businesses including household appliances, security technology, power tools and accessories and engineering services among many others. Anne Lock is general counsel for the Oceania Region and leads a legal function that is considered efficient and proactive in handling important transactions for the company whilst liaising with different business division including Bosch’s world renowned engineers and investors. Supporting Lock include the experienced Anna Johnston and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson, both of whom currently serve Bosch Australia as legal counsels after joining the company in 2012. Lock says that her department has ‘had a great year, with some amazing work in the [areas of] Internet of Things (IoT), connectivity for Highly Autonomous Vechicles (driverless cars), sensor systems to improve harvests and yields in agribusiness’. The team was involved in Bosch’s continued investment activity in Australian AgTech start-up The Yield, who recently announced a successful Series A funding round of $6.5m AUD, and they also helped facilitate a new suite which is capable of using and evaluating large amounts of data from various sources and supports the efficient development of innovative applications for the Internet of Things.
