Having been founded in 2008, Sydney headquartered Vocus Group is one of Australia’s fastest growing companies and provides diversified telecommunication services to customers on a domestic and international basis. During this time of rapid growth and change, helping keep the company stay legally compliant and assess risk in a timely manner is a legal function that has overseen a number of cases including several M&A transactions throughout the relatively short history of the company. One such example is the merger between M2 Group and Vocus Communications which was described as an ‘excellent outcome for both companies [creating] a new force in the telecommunications industry, capable of delivering great outcomes’ according to Vocus’ chairman David Spence. Ashe-lee Jegathesan was appointed to the role of general counsel and company secretary of the group in the aftermath of this merger, and leads legal support across the Group’s various subsidiaries in the telecommunications industry including well-known brands iPrimus and Dodo Services.
