Focus on: My career

Cordilia became a legal practitioner in 2014 and is currently the senior legal counsel at The Buchan Group Australia. As an in-house lawyer, Cordilia performs various tasks such as drafting complex agreements, reviewing and negotiating contracts with high-profile clients and key stakeholders within the business, both across Australia and New Zealand. She also provides advice on relevant legislative changes and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance, and implements risk mitigation measures for successful delivery of projects. In addition, she delivers training sessions to the staff, explaining key contractual principles, insurance obligations, risk management, and emerging challenges in the industry.

Before her current role, Cordilia worked as risk manager and contracts adviser, where she conducted insurance reviews of various contracts ranging from confidentiality deeds, novation deeds to consultancy agreements. She advised clients on ways to amend or negotiate their contracts to stay within the boundaries of their insurance policies.

Previously, Cordilia worked at a multi-national engineering consulting firm, as a part of their in-house legal team, assisting the corporate counsel group by reviewing and negotiating large, high-profile engineering, construction contracts. She has also gained experience working at private practice law firms – DLA Piper and Allens Arthur Robinson, while studying Law.
