Sarah Hoolahan is associate general counsel for Australia and New Zealand at Meta. She supports Meta’s operations in the ANZ region, advising on a diverse range of legal issues impacting the business in the region – from regulatory matters, consumer protection, litigation, counselling on new product launches, content and safety issues, and everything in between.
Some of her recent projects include Meta’s ongoing response to the ACCC’s Digital Platforms Services Inquiry and related consumer law reforms; regulatory litigation, including the ACCC’s Federal Court consumer protection proceedings concerning the Onavo Protect VPN app and investment scam ads respectively; the Australian Information Commissioner’s Federal Court privacy proceedings concerning Cambridge Analytica; and Meta’s response to news media bargaining legislation in the region.
With the influx of new tech regulation in Australia, Sarah’s role sits at the intersection of law and tech policy, navigating reforms to media laws, competition and consumer protection, online safety, AI, and much more.
