Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
I recently co-led a project across the Asia Pacific region focused on improving contracting between firms within the region. Before the project, there was a lack of consistency in the way contracting was managed between firms, often resulting in protracted and costly negotiations that slowed the business down in achieving its objectives. Through this project, we implemented a technology solution to manage contracting, developed guidance, and established standard positions. This streamlined the contracting process between firms, creating efficiency and consistency. Additionally, we were able to leverage an existing technology solution already in use in some parts of the network more globally, which enabled us to implement the solution with little to no additional cost for the firms within the region.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
A cause that I strongly care about is connectivity and well-being across my entire team. The legal profession is highly competitive and often involves working on complex and sensitive matters. Given these pressures, it is crucial for the well-being and success of our team that we look out for each other by checking in and ensuring that we come together to support our colleagues when they need it the most. The way I manage this is by regularly calling members of my team to check in on how they are doing, especially when I know they have a significant workload or have been working on a time-intensive and stressful project. Sometimes, just picking up the phone and having a casual conversation can help in feeling connected and provide someone with an opportunity to talk about the challenges they are facing.
