Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

Having been fortunate enough to have been a part of a variety of different organisations and legal teams, I have had the benefit of experiencing different ways of working within legal. It has made me passionate about delivering legal support as a business partner and finding alignment of legal goals with those of the organisation. I have seen simple changes have significant impact, such as by investing time to learn about preferred ways of knowledge sharing within the legal team, and on the business side, by using internal communications to proactively deliver legal guidance to the business, such as a self-service portal or legal newsletter. Not ground-breaking but can be very effective.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

I have found great personal and professional satisfaction in the time I have spent doing pro-bono work. In particular, with my personal interest in photography and creative arts, the work I have done with the Arts Law Centre is a good example of the alignment of my personal and professional worlds. This work allows me to apply my legal skills in a human context, with individuals and organisations that may not usually be able to access legal advice. It is an opportunity to make a big impact and I am fortunate to be with a company that fully supports pro-bono and volunteer work at Aēsop. It is so meaningful to be able to use my legal background to contribute to the broader community in this way.
