Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
One example was fine-tuning a combination of Trello, Slack, and Google, which allowed us to create a centralised hub for managing our work. With Trello, we built a board to track progress on each project, assign tasks to team members, and set due dates. Google Workspace allows us to collaborate efficiently with other departments in real time on contract templates and RFI/RFP documents. Google and Trello notifications are then pushed to a private Slack channel, allowing the C-Level and key employees to stay up-to-date and comment on project status changes.
Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives?
While our primary focus is on legal matters, we have played an essential role in supporting the company’s broader goals and initiatives, including initiatives related to legal ethics and developing policies and procedures to promote ethical behaviour in the workplace. We provided guidance on potential ethical issues that may arise and developed a code of conduct for the company. Additionally, we have been particularly active in compliance, working closely with other departments to ensure that the company is adhering to less-talked-about laws and regulations.
Can you sum up the team culture/ethos in one sentence?
A positive and supportive work environment is what it is all about!
Our ethos is to emphasise the importance of enjoying work, not by practically insisting on after-work drinks and organising team-building events, but by prioritising reasonable working hours, open communication and providing constructive feedback.
