European waste management company Renewi was created in 2017 following the merger of Shanks Group with Van Gansewinkel Groep. It has big plans to be part of the solution to reducing waste and avoiding pollution; one of the main environmental problems facing society today. With 8,000 employees working at 200 sites across Europe and North America, Renewi appointed general counsel Baukje Dreimuller as a member of the Renewi executive committee, effective from September 2017. She brings to the company extensive previous experience from leading positions within legal firms such as Simmons & Simmons, Ashurst and Houthoff. At the latter, Dreimuller held the position of senior lawyer within the corporate transaction M&A department. In this capacity she worked closely on the Van Gansewinkel – Shanks merger having managed much of the legal activities of the deal. In her current role at Renewi, she oversees the legal department and also supports the Netherlands supervisory board, with responsibility for all other governance related matters in the Benelux area.
