Isabelle Deschamps joined Dutch multinationalAkzoNobel in August 2018 as group general counsel, overseeing all legal, compliance and intellectual property matters. Prior to joining AkzoNobel, Deschamps worked at Unilever where she was responsible for the legal and compliance areas of its European business operations, as well as its food and refreshments division worldwide. When she initially joined Unilever she led the legal and compliance activities for the Unilever personal care business, whilst managing the global intellectual property group and supporting the legal support to e-commerce, digital and privacy. She also led the global categories legal teams, with a focus on business partnering and global personal care, advising in relation to business strategy, product and brand innovation and sustainability initiatives. Prior to joining Unilever, Deschamps held various legal positions at Nestle in Switzerland, the UK and Ireland. Deschamps started her career in private practice after finishing a Master’s in law at the University of Montreal.
