Paul Van Straaten is a business minded general counsel with extensive international experience in telecommunications and IT, IP, compliance, government relations, and anti-money laundering. He currently serves as chief legal officer for telecommunications company Lebara Group, and serves as a member of the board and is a trustee of Lebara Foundation. Prior to this role he worked at COLT-Telecom, joining as legal officer and eventually getting promoted to manager legal and regulatory affairs and then director of enterprise sales. Here his focus was on managing the local legal and regulatory affairs department and working as a chairman of the eased lines working group of the European Competitive Telecoms Association. Van Straaten also had a stint at Ziggo, the largest cable operator in the Netherlands. At Ziggo he worked in in the capacity of project manager, where he implemented the broadcast decisions of the regulator OPTA, defining the organisation, systems and processes of the new wholesale organisation.
