What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

The main challenge I faced over the past year has been navigating the expanding and increasingly complex regulatory environment. This has been especially challenging on the ESG front, for regulations like the European Union Green Deal legislation.

Do you have an example of a time when you have come up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works that did not result in a large expense?

I was involved in the implementation of a legal matter registration system. This allowed for a better quantification of key performance indicators and optimised the allocation and prioritisation of legal work.

What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?

The ability to understand risks faced by the business and the industry it operates in is an important quality to possess as an in-house lawyer. This will aid the formulation of practical and efficient solutions to mitigate these risks.
