How have you harnessed technologies to drive output or efficiency as legal director?

In my line of work and the industry in which I perform, technology is not only the main scope of the business, but also the first and foremost important priority. In the company I work for, technology is a way of life, therefore, our legal duty is also to accompany the digital disruption that has generated changes in the models of communication, interaction, created by various functionalities, cloud computing services and data traffic, by adopting internal regulations that comply with the law.

What do you predict will be the biggest change to the legal market in Bolivia, in the next few years?

The development of information technologies and the growing digital economy has led to significant changes and agility in various operating processes, market segmentation and product transformation, turning data and digital knowledge into strategic factors of production. Consequently, the biggest change to the legal market in Bolivia would be the adoption of regulatory changes in various sectors, from new regulations to the telecommunications sector, digital commerce (treatment of digital goods and services) governance for digital transformation (cybersecurity, protection and data privacy), and data-driven productive digital transformation.

Have any recent political, economic or regulatory change(s) impacted your work/company? How are you dealing with this?

In April 2022, Bolivia launched the “Andean Digital Agenda” jointly with those who make up the Andean Community. The agenda is designed to work on five central axes: digital government and digital transformation, infrastructure and connectivity, digital talent, digital economy and new technologies. From the perspective of my work, the systematic adoption of the new regulations that were to arise, and the coordination with the State, will allow a correct accompaniment to the growth of infrastructure, connectivity, coverage and access to telecommunications services throughout the national territory. It will also work to grant equal opportunities of access to technology to the entire population.
