Legal manager | National Chamber of Industries (CNI)
Sonia Beatriz Soruco Ruiz
Legal manager | National Chamber of Industries (CNI)
What are the most significant cases and transactions you have been involved in recently?
Being the legal manager, it is my job to represent the interests of the member companies. The most significant cases related to this would be the elaboration and presentation of legal resources against resolutions that affect our member companies. I have also managed dealing with the national tax service to extend the application of the new billing system.
I have also implemented a weekly regulatory update service, which allows all member companies to be informed of the latest regulations applicable to the industry.
What can the law firms in Bolivia do better to provide for you as an in-house counsel?
Law firms need to become familiar with the functioning of the domestic industry and the socio-economic problems they face, so that they can provide a better service. Since all areas are now integrated, it is no longer possible to only be skilled in legal knowledge.
What will the main focus of your company be over the next few months and how do you intend to assist with this?
The main focus of the CNI is to achieve greater advantages for the economic reactivation, and to present a proposal for an industrial strategy as well as a change in the energy matrix. Therefore, I must analyse the current regulations, prepare proposals for standards and, if appropriate, the preparation and presentation of legal resources to achieve this objective. Likewise, I must make the administrative arrangements for the CNI to reach a successful conclusion in all legal matters.
