How do you manage legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis, and how do you align your legal strategy with the overall business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

As a corporate lawyer, my primary aim is to guide and align all decisions within the legal framework, always seeking better ways to adapt decisions to what is permitted. It is matter of analysing the situation from different perspectives and avoiding rigid positions. From my point of view, the goal is always to contribute rather than to restrict. 

What measures has your company taken to incorporate sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company? 

In recent years, EMPACAR has established itself as a sustainable company. We have integrated sustainability into our policies, reflecting a commitment that spans from individual employee behaviour to decisions made by the company, its directors, and shareholders. We strive to make EMPACAR a company that contributes to the environment, going beyond mere compliance with regulations. We are sustainable not only because we prevent waste from causing pollution but also because we promote the use of alternative energy sources and aim to assist those in need. Our approach is to lead by example, demonstrating that we can all make a positive impact on the world from our own positions.
