How do you manage legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis, and how does your legal strategy align with the overall business strategy to ensure organisational resilience? 

It is important to note that, as a policy within CNI, all management departments work under an annual strategic plan, where the legal area plays a transversal role across all departments, ensuring constant alignment. 

The management of legal aspects largely depends on the type of crisis or instability being faced. If it is a political issue, we provide full support and advice to the general management and presidency to ensure that CNI’s statements or positions are in line with current regulations. For specific issues, we conduct a detailed analysis and provide advice accordingly. If the matter is highly technical, we engage with external advisors (not only legal ones). 

What measures has your organisation taken to incorporate sustainability practices into its core operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to promoting and ensuring sustainable practices within the organisation? 

It is essential to clarify that CNI is not a company but a national coordinating entity that affiliates regional chambers and companies. With that in mind, we don’t have specific measures in place. However, my role is crucial as I serve as a “reality check” for the measures, proposals, or positions we consider adopting, ensuring that they are all in line with current regulations and do not harm CNI’s image or that of its members. 

When something cannot be implemented as planned, I focus on presenting alternative solutions to maintain operations or services. 

What emerging technologies do you believe will have the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?  

I believe that artificial intelligence is already having a substantial impact and will continue to grow as it becomes more widely adopted. AI enables rapid analysis and the swift preparation of resources, briefs, and positions almost instantaneously. However, it is crucial to thoroughly review the outcomes before publishing or presenting them. 

I keep myself updated through expert readings, webinars, talks, discussions, and international articles on the topic, which I access through subscriptions or find on various apps and social media platforms.
