Alexandre Aguiar de Brito, has continued to impress as general counsel of Santo Antônio Energia, an energy conglomerate charged with the construction and operation of the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Plant as part of the federal Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) projects. Operational since 2012, the plant produces hydroelectricity supplying a large portion of Northern Brazil and was made possible by its stakeholders: Furnas Centrais Elétricas (39%), Caixa FIP Amazônia Energia (20%), Odebrecht Energia do Brasil (18.6%), SAAG Investimentos (12.4%) and Cemig Geração e Transmissão (10%). Previously featured in the GC Powerlist: Brazil 2016, de Brito is an experienced general counsel with considerable skill and tenacity in negotiation, arbitration and environmental matters for the hydro power company. The firm has continued to be an important power source for the region and has increased its public and environmental programs to aid its local community as well as receiving regulatory authorisation to issue new infrastructure debentures.
