A distinguished figure in the in-house legal industry in Brazil, Alexandre D’Ambrosio joined Vale as general counsel in March 2018. He brings over 20 years of corporate legal in-house experience across a variety of industries, from financial markets, metals and mining, IT and telecoms in Brazil and the United States where he completed his LLM at Harvard Law School and studied at George Washington University’s National Law Centre. He previously served in executive legal positions at Banco Santander Brasil, Votorantim, Telemig and Aracuze Celulose and more. He was also a lecturer on commercial law and capital markets at Higher Education Institute of Brasília (IESB) showing his dedication to the field. At Vale he is responsible for general legal management including tax, corporate and compliance issues worldwide, as well as being on the board of directors for subsidiary companies Vale New Caledonia and the Curator Council of Fundação Renova. Vale is the largest mining and materials company in Latin America and a major player in the Brazilian and global mining industry, and D’Ambrosio is an exremely important part of the company’s growth strategy.
