Ana Paula Saunders is an experienced international and Brazilian tax specialist with a strong background in litigation affairs. Since joining Vale in 2011, she has had responsibility over around 500 domestic cases, the largest international tax case of the company, co-responsibility for in-direct tax cases, and responsibility for central management reports on tax matters for Australia, Argentina, Colombia, France, Switzerland and Canada. Additionally she has had specific control over the 750 cases involving Espírito Santo and Pará’s Indirect Tax Cases. Vale is the largest company in Brazil and is involved in mining, logistics and power generation. A nominator has described Saunders as ‘a very technical lawyer, who takes part in discussions regarding the lawsuits in a very effective way, contributing to the improvement of the procedural documents and motivating our team. She also leads a successful think tank dedicated to study international taxation’.
