One of the largest steel producers in Latin America, Brazil based Usiminas is one of the preeminent steel producers, researchers and consultants in the region. Bruno Lage de Araujo Paulino has served as its general counsel since 2015, after a long in-house legal career in the metals and mining sector. He first joined Usiminas in 2008 and has worked in the compliance and commercial functions ever since. He is an industry expert in corporate governance compliance serving on multiple industry committees and public bodies such as the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC), the Corporate Governance Secretaries Commission, the Corporate Lawyers Association and more. Usiminas operates one of the largest flat plate steel production facilities in Latin America, produces world leading research into new methods of production and products as well as making processed products through joint ventures such as with Nippon Steel to produce hot-dip galvanised steel sheets.
