Legal and compliance director from 2008 to 2017 and deputy general counsel since January 2018, Fernando Zanetti brings nearly 30 years of professional legal experience to his role at Bunge. With his diverse career in multinational corporations in the food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and coatings industry, trade associations, financial institutions and top tier law firms, Zanetti is an expert in the legal management of contracts, commercial law, civil litigation, IP and labour law. Zanetti has also served as an assistant professor of civil law at the São Paulo Catholic University until 1998 and a lecturer in several conferences on subjects related to contracts, arbitration, taxation and antitrust. He has broad experience in M&A, international negotiations, regulation, corporate law and the management of large legal teams. As a large international agribusiness specialising in oilseeds and other agricultural products, Bunge has a large operation in Brazil requiring an expert legal department. Under Zanetti’s leadership the team provides coverage on new partnerships and projects. For example, in August 2018, Bunge in partnership with Santander Brasil and TNC, announced a long-term loan offer to soy farmers to incentivise expansion of production without damage to native habitats in the Brazilian Cerrado region.
