Heraldo Geres continues to impress as chief legal officer for Marfrig Group, a major multi-national food company specialising in meat products including Brazilian beef. A lawyer with 25 years experience at the Brazilian Bar, Geres is a highly professional and capable manager of the company’s legal affairs including its corporate, regulatory and governance practices. He also holds a post-graduate business degree from Thunderbird School of Business. Marfrig Group has operations in 16 countries including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, China and the US, and is listed on the BM&F Bovespa since 2007. Geres is involved in the legal aspects of Marfrig’s major commercial deals and partnerships. For example, in August 2018, Marfrig announced a new partnership with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) to increase the status of low-carbon Brazilian beef and carbon neutral beef, through Embrapa’s certification system. Additionally, Marfrig announced that it is working on the consolidation of the North American and Latin American operations of the company requiring legal restructuring.
