Since August 2016, Joana Smith De Vasconcellos has served as legal and compliance director at INTL FCStone Brazil, having previously held high level in-house legal positions within the financial sector at Geração Futuro Corretora de Valores, HSBC and others. She is a specialist in financial law and international business with post graduate qualifications and a wealth of experience. INTL FCStone Brazil is the Latin American arm of the global brokerage company offering an “Integrated Risk Management Program (IRMP), OTC execution, clearing services, physical trading in precious metals and grains, a global foreign exchange market, asset management, equities market making and securities trading and advisory services. De Vasconcellos is responsible for all legal matters related to investment product development, collection of treasury, control procedures of the brokerage house, and the implementation and monitoring of regulatory practises and changes. The company announced in April 2018 that it has upgraded its regulatory presence to an FX Bank license in Brazil, a major achievement for the firm, its global payments division and its in-house legal operation. It estimates that the company will process more than US$1bn in payments per year going forward.
