As head of legal since October 2011, Renata Willens Longo Ferrari has led the legal department of CBMM with skill and experience. With 20 years of experience as an in-house counsel, including 10 years spent at Ultrapar and considerable experience in the mining industry, Ferrari is well suited to legal management of CBMM. Founded in 1955, CBMM has one of the largest niobium ore deposits at its Araxá, Minas Gerais, Brazil site and has since expanded to all elements of the business, with mining and technology in 50 countries it is the world’s leading niobium producer, and the only company present in all of its market segments. Ferrari’s remit overseeing the legal department means she is involved in all matters regarding commercial deals, partnerships and financial and environmental compliance. Notably, Ferrari played a role in the June 2018 announcement of a partnership deal with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation, and Sojitz Corporation to develop anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The process, using niobium titanium oxide (NTO), intends to create the next generation lithium-ion battery with longer high-energy density and ultra-rapid charging for automobile technology.
