What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
As part of a company on the forefront of technology, and that has been transforming its own business for a few years already, the legal team has played a key role in many internal and external projects, so keeping the company in compliance with the evolving regulation and properly supporting the business in negotiations with our customers has been the recent focus of our team.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most? Which have you found most useful in your legal team?
The evolution and adoption of artificial Intelligence is a game changer for all professions, including legal services. It will help attorneys focus on high value activities while technology takes care of high-volume activities with low complexity and low value added from attorneys. We are still far from the full potential of such technology, but we can already see some interesting applications, from simple chatbots to high volume litigation management.
As we live in a fast-paced world today, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?
There are two main aspects. First is to have a deep knowledge of your company’s business, so you can provide effective advice and mitigate real risks. Second is the ability to quickly adapt to change, including having the attitude of a lifelong learner, as not only the laws and regulations are constantly changing, but also the business environment and our company’s core business too.
