What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Currently, our legal department is engaged in multiple cases and transactions, representing our local business in Brazil. As part of our standard approach, we seek to positively influence our business, providing guidance and proposing legal solutions without breaking any laws or regulations, though always focused in benefiting our company’s business.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most? Which have you found most useful in your legal team?
In my opinion, a technological advancement that I believe will greatly impact the role of any in-house legal team in the future is artificial intelligence. This technology presents itself as an important milestone for any employer of any industry to perform their work, and the legal sector is no exception to that rule. I believe AI will be a very useful tool, making our work more cost effective, simplifying tasks and automating other duties that we find timewasting and unproductive.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
To build strong relationships with our business partners, it is important to challenge denial solutions. Many times, we deal with negative answers, always listening to the word no. It is important to confront those attitudes and defy the status quo.
