What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We recently launched a new product, entering in a new business segment. The complete involvement from our legal department was mandatory and fundamental to cover all legal cares in connection with this new product and business segment.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

In my opinion, it is very important and even compulsory to choose to work with external counsel that aligns with your company’s values. If, when working together, that layout is set, then I totally agree to reconsider working again with those external lawyers.

As we live in a fast-paced world today, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?

I understand that a corporate legal department needs to, not only have knowledge on the company’s business, but also expertise on business in general. More than legal skills, which are essential to work in a legal department, the team needs to be well informed on the company’s business and the market, required to be business oriented.

What are some of the main legislative or regulatory changes that have impacted you?

I would say that the main legislative change that, in recent times, has impacted our work, is the Brazilian general personal data protection law.
