What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We are dedicated to M&A transactions and the company’s adjustment to new regulations. Due to the strong preventive work, we are carrying out and changes to our internal policies, I am pleased to inform you that we currently have no relevant legal proceedings.

What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?

In the insurance sector, lawyers need to be aware of constant regulatory changes, understand the dynamics of the business and think about legal and innovative solutions that meet different operating models. Market demands require adaptations to old forms of contracting, and we must be willing to enable operating models in a sustainable way.

How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?

We removed the invisible barriers that separated the legal department from the rest of the company. Before, the recurring question we were asked was “can I do this?” and currently, the question is “how can we do this”? To become a legal entity that enables business, it was necessary to become more accessible, remove formalities, simplify our language, be creative and, above all, take risks, preserve legal and regulatory security and comply with the robust governance of an international group.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

A cause that excites me a lot is diversity and inclusion. This topic is important, and only through serious policies in public and private companies, which are the main employers in the country, will we reach satisfactory rates. I have been appointed director of sustainability, and one of my missions is to bring more light to this subject.
