Beverley Flynn joined Morguard in 2003 and was appointed general counsel and secretary in 2004. She has more than 15 years of experience in public markets, corporate securities law and commercial real estate law, including purchase, sale, financing and development. Though she is the chief legal authority at Morguard, she is also, and perhaps primarily, a principal business advisor and a chief lieutenant to the chairman and CEO. In addition to transactional and business activity, she leads corporate governance and compliance activities at Morguard as part of her corporate secretarial functions. She is a primary driver of institutional change at Morguard, and has been the directing force of many critical initiatives during her tenure. She is at the forefront of regulatory changes and recently led corporate-wide policy implementations in the areas of whistle-blowing and disclosure; money-laundering and financial compliance; accessibility; privacy; and, commercial electronic message delivery. As both a legal and business advisor within Morguard, Flynn has gained the respect and trust of staff, clients, investors, and company executives as a savvy, ethical, and pragmatic partner in achieving success. Throughout her career, Flynn has demonstrated a commitment to promoting charities that advance women’s issues. She developed a corporate philanthropy program for Morguard and spearheads large charity campaigns, including fundraising for Interim Place, a shelter for abused women, and Ingles House, which provides youth addiction services and housing support for women. She was also instrumental in creating BeYou, a national awareness campaign with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, that focuses on the self-esteem and empowerment of young girls. Flynn was a speaker at Morguard’s Women’s Day event in 2019.
