The Shaw Communications legal team is responsible for all legal affairs, government relations corporate governance and regulatory matters for the company and is made up of industry leading in-house professionals adept at media, IT and commercial legal matters as well as other legal business. Executive vice president, chief legal and regulatory officer, Peter Johnson leads the legal department for Western Canada’s largest communications company, which specialises in broadband and fibre optic connection. Since 2016, when Johnson assumed his current role, the legal team has worked to grow the business achieving notable highlights such as the C$4bn asset swap between Shaw and Rogers Communications, the acquisitions of the fibre network of 360Networks, ViaWest and WIND, as well as the sale of Shaw Media to Corus Entertainment for C$2.65bn, and the partnership and development of the Shaw Tower real estate project in Vancouver.
