Honduras-based Michelle Canelo is responsible for all legal affairs (with the exception of tax) across Central America at global food, agriculture, financial and industrial product provider Cargill. In addition to handling a range of legal matters – from environmental law to competition and intellectual property – she is responsible for talent development within her team, appointing and managing legal providers, and monitoring and promoting the organisation’s guiding principles. She is also frequently involved in sale and acquisition processes and is considered to be an important voice within the company. She has led the 10 lawyer Central America team at Cargill since 2008 and has, in the words of one nominator, ‘grown continuously with the business to add value with each passing year.
