What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

One of the obstacles I have overcome was getting acquainted with the particularities of the payment industry. Even having 20 years of experience in the financial industry, does not guarantee a smooth transition between industries, because Visa’s business model is deep and extensive. I took the approach of using my natural curiosity and interest in learning and heavily lean on my work colleagues to positively overcome this obstacle.

In which ways have you attempted to bring the legal department closer to your business colleagues?

We have brought the legal department closer to our business colleagues through effective communication. I believe that communication is essential to establish and build good rapport between the legal function and internal clients. Effective communication brings closeness and thus strengthens trust.

What are some of the most significant cases and transactions you have been involved in recently?

I provided legal advice in the successful execution of multiple agreements, including the agreement with a stated-owned bank in Central America that will have a relevant impact in the country´s financial inclusion strategy.
