What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

It has been challenging to legally protect the business in all its dealings and business, while affording it the necessary flexibility to operate in a complex, ever-changing regulatory environment with different jurisdictions and legal systems.

In which ways have you attempted to bring the legal department closer to your business colleagues?

I have brought the legal department closer by providing a tailored, personalised service that considers the needs and demands of internal and external clients. This involves ongoing communication to ensure the team understands business requirements for every transaction and how best to provide advice or information in a timely and safe manner.

What are some of the most significant cases and transactions you have been involved in recently?

We have recently been involved in two the multimillion-dollar cases and transactions. The first one was a USD$130m seven-year Senior Secured Amortising Facility (the facility) for Favorita Fruit. The second was a USD$89m three-year Senior Unsecured Amortising Facility (the facility) for Banco Guayaquil.
