Senior associate counsel Caribbean and Central America | Visa
Julieta graduated from the Universidad Católica Santa María la Antigua in 2004 with a degree in Law and Political Science, Magna Cum Laude, and with an LLM, with emphasis in Corporate Governance, from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2006. In 2009, she was recognized by the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance, of Yale University, as a “Millstein Rising Star” in corporate governance.
She is one of the founders of the Institute of Corporate Governance-Panama (IGCP) and was part of its Board of Directors from 2011 to 2017, a stage in which she represented the Institute in the “Corporate Governance Round Tables for Latin America”, organised by the Organisation for the Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD). She is also a member of the Association of Corporate Directors, an entity that promotes the participation of women in Boards of Directors, since 2014, and participated in the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), invited by the U.S. Department of State, in 2019.
Throughout her career, she has worked as an associate lawyer in important law firms in Panama, as Counseling Manager on Corporate Governance and Compliance issues and as Legal Manager and Corporate Secretary, in various regulated financial institutions, standing out for successfully participating, in the implementation of projects on best practices of Corporate Governance, both in Panama and the region, as well as conducting trainings for Boards of Directors and senior executives regarding trends and good practices of corporate governance.
She recently joined Visa as Associate Senior Counsel for Central America and the Caribbean.
