Manager, legal affairs and data privacy officer Latam | Foundever
Ricardo Zúñiga works as manager, legal affairs and data protection officer Latam for Foundever, one of the largest and leading global BPOs. As part of his dual role, he handles legal affairs involving highly complex commercial and technology contracts on software licensing, SAAS and other sophisticated tools; Ricardo currently advises multiple business partners in IT, administration, operations, human resources, finance and tax, and seeks to ensure compliance and strategic management of the Free Trade Zone System.
As data privacy officer for Latam, Ricardo contributed to the preparation of the company’s Global Privacy Programme, and currently promotes its implementation and awareness in the region. Ricardo conducts privacy assessments of high-tech tools and systems, contract reviews, data subject requests and the like. Ricardo works closely with business and information security departments to ensure trust, integrity, and resilience of personal data, as well as adaptability and keeping up to date with the latest technological developments. Furthermore, Ricardo supports Brazil in all privacy-related matters.
Previously, Ricardo served as coordinator of the OECD Forum and director general of foreign trade at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, where he led the preparation of the strategic plan for his country’s improvement with the OECD. Ricardo was also manager of International Tax Services at a Big Four accounting firm and was appointed to lead the opening of its tax practice in the Dominican Republic.
Ricardo is a licensed attorney from the University of Costa Rica, where he graduated with honours. He holds a Masters in Public Administration with an emphasis in Economic Development from Harvard University as well as a Master of Laws with a specialisation in Communications and Technology Law from McGill University. Ricardo also holds a Diploma in Enterprise and Investment Law from the International Development Law Institute (IDLO) in Rome. He is a fellow of Harvard University, McGill University and IDLO. Ricardo is fluent in Spanish and English and has a professional working proficiency in Portuguese.
