About

Silvia Arce is a legal and compliance director with over 20 years of experience in the legal field. She has a degree in Law from the Universidad Internacional de las Americas in Costa Rica, master’s degree in Commercial Law from the Interamericana University and an MBA from Aden Business School.  

Silvia started her career as in-house counsel and at a regional level in different sectors and companies (multinational and national), holding leadership positions in the legal field. There, she served in various legal roles, including senior counsel, general counsel and legal manager for Central America and the Caribbean. 

In her current role as legal, ethics and compliance director for Central America, the Caribbean and South America at Novo Nordisk, Silvia oversees all legal and compliance matters for the region, including regulatory compliance, risk management, and contract negotiations. She manages a team of lawyers and compliance professionals across multiple countries, ensuring that all legal and compliance activities align with the company’s global policies and standards.  

Silvia is known for her deep knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape in the Region, as well as her ability to navigate complex legal issues in a practical and business-focused manner. She is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and has been recognised for her leadership in promoting these values both within her organisation and in the broader legal community. 

Outside of work, Silvia is an avid traveller and enjoys expending time with her family. She is also a mentor to young lawyers and law students and is committed to helping the next generation of legal professionals succeed.
