Career Biography

Alfonso Videche is a highly accomplished Senior Legal Executive with extensive experience in providing proactive, fit-for-purpose legal advice and executing global transactions, with a particular focus on Central America. As the Regional Legal Director for Colgate-Palmolive Central America, Alfonso plays a strategic role in delivering results-driven legal solutions that mitigate risks while safeguarding business continuity and corporate reputation.

Throughout his career, Alfonso has been instrumental in designing and implementing transformative corporate strategies that drive growth, enhance compliance, and strengthen financial performance. His leadership has been pivotal in establishing comprehensive legal and operational frameworks for prestigious organisations such as Colgate-Palmolive and British American Tobacco. His expertise spans multiple legal domains, including international taxation, trade law, competition law, intellectual property, brand protection, unfair competition, government and regulatory affairs, and compliance.

Prior to his current role, Alfonso served as Regional Legal Director for Colgate Iberia, overseeing legal operations in Spain and Portugal, and as Area In-House Legal Counsel for British American Tobacco Caribbean and Central America. In these positions, he successfully managed complex legal challenges across multiple jurisdictions. He began his legal career as an Associate at Bufete Odio & Raven, where he specialised in foreign investment, free trade zone law, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and international trade.

Alfonso holds an LL.M in International Taxation from the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where he was a member of the Journal of International Law and an OAS PRA Scholar. He also earned diplomas in the Law of International Transactions from INCAE Business School and International Taxation from Universität Münster. He obtained his LL.B in Law from the Universidad de Costa Rica, where he distinguished himself as Secretary of Information for the Liberal Arts Student Government.
