Career Biography
Andrea Menjívar Saravia is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in El Salvador and a duly authorized lawyer by the Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador with more than 10 years of professional experience in the field of law. Andrea has worked in several international law firms with operations in El Salvador, advising companies seeking investment in the country and companies positioned within the national market, in business associations to assess the industrial sector and participate in law and regulations creation processes and in local companies on their daily operations. Therefore, Andrea has acquired experience in corporate law, commercial law, labor law, and regulatory law in the energy and telecommunications fields. During these years Andrea has also taken numerous courses on various topics that allow her to provide holistic advice to the companies she assists, including studies in international water law, regional electricity market and national electricity market. For the last four years Andrea has worked within Invenergy’s flagship project in El Salvador: Energía del Pacífico, the first thermal power generation plant that uses natural gas as fuel in El Salvador and currently the largest private electricity generating company in the country with innovative infrastructure components for the market such as the first Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), called BW Tatiana, in the Central American region. Andrea has worked from the Legal Affairs Department of this company to advise on the last stages of the construction, the start-up and commissioning of the project and finally in the start of commercial operation of this company in El Salvador and currently on their daily operation. During this time at Energía del Pacífico, Andrea has provided support to the daily operation of the company through the preparation and negotiation of contractual terms, obtention of permits necessary for the operation of the company, in the execution of social projects for the benefit of the communities surrounding the project and providing legal opinion of projects to be executed in the future of the company. Therefore, during this time at Energía del Pacífico, Andrea has developed skills that only working on such a unique project allows her to obtain, such as leadership and working in interdisciplinary teams. Likewise, from her position as a lawyer she has participated in business union committees seeking to generate the best conditions for business practice in the labor law sfere. Andrea is currently studying a Master’s Degree in Business Lae at the Universidad Centroamericana Dr. Jose Simeon Cañas, through which she is obtaining valuable knowledge that contributes to the day-to-day work legal practice.
