Career Biography
Jorge Alberto Romo Rodríguez
He is the Legal Director for the ACC region, which includes the countries of Central America, the Caribbean, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela, a position he has held since November 2013, based in Panama City. From July 2015 to January 2017, he was responsible for the Compliance area in the Central America and Caribbean region. He served as President of the Ethics Committee and the Compliance Sub-Committee of Fedefarma from August 2017 to June 2024, which is the association of the innovative pharmaceutical industry in Central America and the Caribbean. Jorge is a Mexican lawyer with 22 years of professional experience in the legal field, 16 of which have been dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining Novartis, Jorge successfully served as Legal Manager for Latin America at Eli Lilly & Co., based in Mexico City, and previously worked at the law firms Thacher Proffitt & Wood, S.C., and Jáuregui, Navarrete y Nader S.C., in Mexico City, specialising in dispute resolution. Jorge completed his law studies at the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, graduating with honours in 2001. Additionally, in 2008, he completed his Master’s in International Law (LLM) at the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, United States.
