Career Biography
Marcela Bernal
Marcela joined Citi in May 2000 and currently serves as the Legal Head for El Salvador and coordinator of legal affairs for Jamaica, overseeing the legal matters of both countries. In coordination with the CCO, she manages regulatory relations, franchise risk, and corporate governance in El Salvador. Additionally, she provides remote support to the team in Jamaica for legal advisory needs, coordinating with external lawyers in that country. Her past work experience includes practice at the law firm Arias & Muñoz and serving as a judicial analyst at a Commercial Court. Marcela graduated from Dr. José Matías Delgado University and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from EAE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, affiliated with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. She is a lawyer and notary, and a member of the legal committee of the Salvadoran Banking Association.
