Mauricio Sánchez Montiel is an attorney and notary authorised by the Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador. He holds a Master’s in Business Law (LL.M.), which he completed at the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA).

Mauricio is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience in the banking sector, having played key leadership and legal advisory roles within the financial industry.

Currently, he serves as the Legal Manager at Banco Davivienda Salvadoreño, S.A., overseeing the legal affairs of the bank and its subsidiaries within the Davivienda financial group in El Salvador. He is responsible for managing legal risks, defending the interests of these entities, and providing strategic legal advice to support the bank’s commercial goals. Additionally, he has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the bank and its subsidiaries as Alternate Judicial Representative and also serves as the administrative, special, and judicial attorney for these entities.

Prior to his current position, Mauricio held various leadership roles within the bank, including Deputy Manager, Head of Different Departments, Senior Lawyer, Contracts Lawyer, and Legal Advisor for the insurance companies within the Davivienda financial group. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated his professional skills and abilities.

As part of his ongoing professional development, Mauricio has participated in a range of international technical programmes and training in areas such as Financial Law, Commercial Dispute Resolution, International Commercial Arbitration, Cybersecurity and Information Security Congresses, Smart Contract Management, Effective Leadership, Executive Skills, International Commercial Contracts, and Prevention of Economic and Financial Crimes, among others. His active involvement in international conferences allows him to stay up to date with the highest legal standards.

With over 13 years of experience in the financial sector and a strong academic background, Mauricio stands out as a competent and specialised corporate legal advisor in the banking sector. His expertise in managing legal risks and providing strategic legal counsel has made him a prominent figure in the Salvadoran financial sector.
